Kitty having her surgical AI done on 5/3/08 at 7:30am. First they clipped her front leg and we put in a catheter, then they gave her a premed to make her relax. After she was relaxed they took her into surgery they gave her another injection to put her under and to intabate her. After that was done they hooked her up to monitoring equipment that measure, pulse, oxygen level in blood & ECG (Heart rate). Then the surgery began they made a small incision and retrieved the uterus and brought it out set it onto some saline soaked gauze pads and covered it with more saline soaked gauze pads. Then we went into the next room to thaw out the semen. They thawing agent was prepared and the straws were placed in it one by one and the semen was revived. After that they were put from the straw into a tube and taken back into surgery. The semen was then drawn up from each tube into a syringe with a catheter attached and they injected into the uterus. The uterus was then placed back into her and she was stitched back up and taken out of surgery to wake up. The whole procedure from start to finish took about 30 minutes with a 1/2 hour recovery time.

The ultrasound was done today and it looks like we are expecting around four to five puppies around the July 2nd.

We are celebrating the 4th of July one day early, the puppies arrived on July 3rd. We have 5 total. Two beautiful girls one Red/White and one Tri color, and three handsome boys two Tri color and one Red/White. Pictures will be posted shortly.
